Located in the heart of Eastwood lies Big D’s Smokehouse, a home to monster tacos and one of the best ribs you’ll ever taste.
It humbly began in Katipunan Ave. with Chef Dino’s (Big D’s) culinary creations. However, after their lease ended and the landlord decided to sell his place, they moved to Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
In 2014, they decided to open and settle in Citywalk Eastwood and, just earlier this year, they open a branch in Venice Grand Canal, McKinley to cater to those living in the south.
STARTUP NACHOS PLATTER, PHP 310 (or USD 6.10)
Light wonton chips were smothered with melted cheddar cheese and what I think is béchamel sauce. It is then topped with salsa and a choice of pulled pork or ground beef.
What we had was ground beef that is seasoned well. I love the combination of toppings as it creates a symphony of flavors that make eating it addicting. This personally makes it into one of my all-time favorite nachos.
BUFFALO WINGS, PHP 280 (or USD 5.43)
Bigger than usual chicken wings were breaded and coated with Sriracha sauce. It is available in mild and wild flavors.
Instead of the bleu cheese, they served ranch sauce. I appreciate it better as bleu cheese is an acquired taste and I still haven’t developed a fondness for it. The tangy taste of the ranch sauce minutely helps tone down the heat of the wings.
MONSTER TACOS, PHP 298 (or USD 5.78)
This is certainly a monster in size. A 9-inch taco is filled with a choice of pulled pork or ground beef, shredded lettuce, salsa, and cheese. If you’re up to date with our Instagram stories, you may have seen me holding this. I actually reacted that it is as big as my face.
As my I’m feeling full already, I didn’t try this anymore. I would love to create a monster taco video challenger with this next time.
SMOKEHOUSE PLATTER, PHP 2498 (or USD 48.48)
If you’re dining with family and friends, make sure to get this to fill you up. This has the following:
- Half slab bone ribs.
- Half slab baby back ribs.
- Smoked bacon slab.
- Smoked beef brisket.
- Cajun Fries.
- Big D’s signature BBQ sauce.
- Smoked links (or sausage).
- Corn on the Cob.
- White BBQ Sauce.
- Pulled Pork.
Since they ran out of corn on the cob during our visit, they gave us coleslaw instead.
For the ribs, they offered two options because some customers prefer gnawing on some bone ribs while some prefer eating ribs conveniently. I must have to say both are equally enjoyable to eat because of they slow cooked it. Additionally, its BBQ sauce coating has the right amount of sweetness.
Their bacon lacks the crispiness that I wanted but it is just my own preference. It is still a guilty pleasure you surely wouldn’t want to miss. Meanwhile, the slow-cooked beef brisket is tender, juicy, and hearty. This was part of the first meats that were finished.
I wasn’t able to sample everything from the smokehouse platter because of the big and varied selection. Hoping you give this a try too so I can hear your thoughts about it.
Love Big D’s Smokehouse
What Big D’s Smokehouse is claiming is really true. Their ribs really rock as it is of quality and the sauces served with it enhances the experience of eating it. As mentioned, I fell in love with their nachos so I would love to chow on it with friends. Their monster tacos is also a reason to go back. I want to take on the challenge of finishing it in one sitting.
