After a year-end sale, of course, there is a new year sale: Philippine Airlines New Year Sale 2019 to be exact. I know that, at times, you already find it hard to believe that there is a sale because of the continuous roll-out of flight sales.
I’m going to try to show you how awesome the Philippine Airline’s New Year Sale 2019 is.
Philippine Airlines New Year Sale 2019
During the blogger’s night that happened last night, Jan. 8, at Whisk Asian Bistro Café, Mr. Ryan T. Uy, Vice-President of the Sales Department, and Ms. Ria C. Domingo, Vice-President of the Marketing Department both announced PAL’s sale.
We also all rejoiced as Philippine Airlines has been regarded as the Most Improved Airline for 2019 by AirlineRatings.com, an Australia-based airline review firm. This is attributed to Philippine Airline’s fleet modernization initiatives.
Flight starts as low as PHP 99 for one-way economy base fare.
Travel Period for Domestic Flights: January 21 to November 30, 2019.
Booking until January 13, 2019.
Tip: You can get that price for the following routes:
- Clark – Mindoro (San Jose) 4x weekly flights
- Clark – Cauayan (Isabela) 3x weekly flights
Flight starts as low as USD 79 (around PHP 4137) for roundtrip economy base fare.
Travel Period for International Flights: February 1 to November 30, 2019.
Booking until January 13, 2019, except for Japan which can be booked until Jan. 22, 2019.
Tip: Book Manila to Hong Kong to get it. Or add USD 10 (around 524) for roundtrip economy base fare for Manila to Taipei. I highly suggest that you go for Taipei instead even if it is your first time to go abroad. Not only does it have affordable accommodations but it is also a foodie haven and there are a lot of enjoyable activities to do there such as cycling around Sun Moon Lake. Taiwan has also extended the visa-free privilege to Filipinos until July 31, 2019.
Now, here comes the exciting part!
Flights to Hanoi will be four times weekly (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) and the 150-seater Airbus A320 will be utilized.
As mentioned earlier, PAL is lauded for their fleet modernization. The wide single-aisle Airbus A320 plane has adopted the fly-by-wire which is a technology traditionally reserved for the supersonic Concorde or high-performance fighter jets. In addition, it also has a safety system that prevents the aircraft from flying beyond its performance capabilities called, flight envelope system.
So no need to worry if you see the travel duration going to Hanoi from Manila reaching to 10 hours and 20 minutes.
Upon checking, Manila to Hanoi is just USD 231.50 (or PHP 12, 113) for Economy Supersaver. It already comes with the following:
- Free 25 kg baggage allowance.
- Free hot meals and drinks.
- 10% Mabuhay Miles credit.
- Rebooking is allowed with fees but it is non-refundable.
- No show fee for confirmed bookings.
You really save money if you BUY NOW.
Let us compare it to Philippine Airlines’ Economy Classic which is basically their regular fare and has 100% Mabuhay Miles credit. It costs USD 626.50 (or PHP 32,783). So you save USD 395 (or PHP 20, 670). THAT IS HUGE!
Not convinced yet?
Let us compare it to other well-known airlines in the Philippines. I checked the same date for uniformity purposes.
Flight time takes approximately 7 hours going to Hanoi and 7 hours going back to Manila because of the layover in Kuala Lumpur. It costs PHP 14, 196 without hot meals and prepaid baggage yet. It is a no-brainer then that PAL is a better choice considering the price and value.
The cost is PHP 8, 704. However, with 20 kg luggage of PHP 850, travel tax of PHP 1,160, and admin fee for travel tax of PHP 100, the total price is PHP 10, 974.
Just a PHP 1, 139 difference, you get hot meals, additional 5 kg allowance, and PAL’s heart of the Filipino service.
P.S. I merely copied the prices and placed it here for your reference.
Phnom Penh, Cambodia
I know it has been a long time (May 2008 according to my Instagram) since I’ve been to Phnom Penh. I’m sure a lot has changed as it is the bustling capital of Cambodia.
Out of my one-time visit, I couldn’t forget the Choeng Ek Genocidal Center or Cambodia Killing Fields. The revolutionary leader Pol Pot had the Khmer Rouge imprison the citizens and brutally murdered them, especially those who were resisting and the educated ones. It lasted for four long years so imagine the number of innocent people that died.
I know it is deeply disturbing but it really made me appreciate life more and understand present-day Cambodia. Hoping to bring Lloyd to that attraction as well sometime in the future.
Flights to Phnom Penh will be five times weekly (every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and will be utilizing the 199-seater Airbus 321.
Although it originally has a two-class configuration of Business and Economy, PAL has added Premium Economy which features extra legroom for an additional fee.
Upon checking, Manila to Phnom Penh is just USD 244.50 (or PHP 12, 782) for Economy Supersaver. Its inclusions are the same as what I have specified in the Economy Supersaver fare for Manila to Hanoi.
Again, let us compare PAL’s price to other airlines.
Flight time takes approximately 6 hours going to Hanoi and 6 hours going back to Manila because of the layover in Kuala Lumpur. It costs PHP 15, 954 which is more expensive than PAL’s sale. Yes, thank God for PAL’s sale.
This airline only offers Manila to Siam Reap flight and no Manila to Phnom Penh flight.
New Delhi, India
Flights are four times weekly (every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) non-stop flights from Manila.
The direct flights to New Delhi are actually a relaunch. They already had it in the past back in 2011 but they had to cancel due to the small market and utilization of widebody planes, A330s, and A340s.
Anyway, Philippine Airlines is the only Philippine carrier that flies directly to New Delhi. It is more sustainable this time around as they will be utilizing the new Airbus A320neo. It is A320 but with neo, “new engine option” that is fuel efficient. There is also a state-of-the-art cockpit and aerodynamically optimized wings.
If you took PAL for your Brisbane, New York, or Brisbane flights, you have most likely tried it. It features a tri-class configuration, in-flight Wi-Fi, business class seats that recline to a fully-flat bed among others.
Rates for this flight are not yet available. Please follow Philippine Airlines social media pages for the announcement of the introductory fares.
As mentioned earlier, we received the great news through a blogger’s party held by Philippine Airlines at Whisk Asian Café bistro. We had sumptuous Vietnamese and Indian dishes.
Lloyd enjoyed the dishes so much and I personally like Vietnamese too since their cuisine is generally considered healthy. So we already made plans before to go to Hanoi. As for the trip execution, it is another story. We plan to do it once we are married so we don’t have to spend extra for the flight and accommodation of a chaperone. You see my mom used to pay for her own flight and accommodation but lately, she doesn’t want to anymore. I’m starting to think that she is doing it on purpose just so I already get married.
Anyway, for our entertainment, there were belly dancers who seem so effortless and confident. I’ve watched belly dancers before in the Dubai desert so I’m looking forward to watching Indian belly dancers. We are also enticed more to go to India after David Guison shared his India travel stories over glasses of Beringer wines.
Philippine Airlines also gave away flights through a raffle draw. Winner of a free flight or not, every one of us is a winner. That includes YOU. Philippine Airlines New Year Sale 2019 is really a great value for money and flying via their plane assures you of a better vacation experience. After all, the flight is as important as the new places you explore.
